Crowned at the Glass Menagerie in Nashville, TN.

Carmel Santiago originally hailed from Pureto Rico. A top Chicago nightclub entertainer in 1973, he traveled to Nashville with his illusion of the Lady Baronessa Maria Andrea del Santiago and sucessfully captured the second Miss Gay America crown. In 1990, the Baronessa appeared on "The Sally Jesse Raphael Show", promoting the Miss Gay America pageantry. He was also the former national cooridnator for the Mr. Gay All-American Contest under Norma Kristie, Inc. Santiago died in October of 1992.
