Originally from Hawaii, Shawn Luis traveled to the third Miss Gay America Pageant from Chicago. With his exciting Polynesian dancing skills, Shawn Luis became Miss Gay America 1975. Shortly after completing his reign, Shawn fulfilled his life-long dream of undergoing gender reassignment surgery. Following a career in professional dance, Luis also enjoyed success as a manager for Elizabeth Arden in Beverly Hills. Today, Shawn Luis makes her home in Honolulu, where she is a sucessful business woman who also finds time to travel and campaign for the political candidates she supports.
